Printpack's Engineering Department is seeking a qualified Electrical & Controls Engineer II or Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer I to join the Corporate Electrical & Controls Engineering team. This position will provide you with a unique opportunity to implement capital initiatives, hone and develop on-machine controls technologies, and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams that span the company's interests. This position, located in Atlanta, GA will report to the Manager of Electrical and Controls Engineering.

Travel is required (up to 30%).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and execution of retrofit projects involving AC and DC drives, servos, PLC, and HMI modification and/or replacement on Presses, Lamination, Slitting, and other capital equipment.

  • Specification, programming, and startup of coordinated drive systems for web handling applications.

  • Original development of PLC, HMI, and Drive System applications.

  • Design of secure industrial communication networks (EthernetIP, ControlNet, Profibus, Modbus, Devicenet, etc.) in collaboration with IT network professionals.

  • Specification of electrical systems and building automation for new and existing plants.

  • Design of electrical schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD.

  • Project Management of small and intermediate capital projects, including supervision of contractors and plant maintenance associates during equipment startup.

  • Collaborate with plant associates to specify electrical support equipment.

  • Design new power systems and distribution to support production equipment.

  • Travel, both domestic and international, to evaluate new equipment and technologies.

  • Provide technical support to production facilities with the purpose of avoiding service costs and optimizing performance.

  • Develop controls approaches for improving manufacturing processes.

  • Develop innovative technology that will give Printpack a competitive advantage.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years controls system hardware and software design experience for a level II.

  • To qualify for a level III, a minimum of 10 years controls system hardware and software design experience. Or, a combination of education and years of industrial controls & automation experience.
