What you'll do:

VyStar's paid internship experience will have the opportunity to participate and support special projects within VyStar's Risk Management and Insurance team. During the internship, the intern will spend time with various team members understanding the individual responsibilities and how they contribute to the department operations and to VyStar. They will attend meetings with VyStar's insurance carriers and participate in renewal data gathering. They will attend departmental meetings, as well as local Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) meetings. The intern should come away with better understanding of a comprehensive insurance program, how to analyze exposures & ways to implement risk mitigation strategies.

The internship is primarily located in the Jacksonville area but must have the capability to travel to VyStar branch locations. We believe you should enjoy and grow during your internship experience. (9-week internship program, beginning first week of June and concluding the first week of August.)

All employees and business units, as first line of defense, are expected to proactively help identify, assess, manage, and report risks within their domain of work. To enhance a healthy risk culture and support our growth for good pillar, employees will maintain vigilance in safeguarding our operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. The Risk team serves as the second line of defense by providing risk oversight and credible challenge whereas the Audit team serves as the third line of defense by providing risk assurance.

Education & Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited college/university for the following majors: Risk Management, Finance, or Business
  • Rising College Juniors, Seniors, or Graduate Students
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work with multi-disciplined teams
  • Strong use of Microsoft Office Tools
  • GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Participation in college organizations and the community
