Position Details:

The Child Mind Institute is looking for a dynamic and experienced Major Gifts Officer to join our Development team. Reporting directly to the Director of Individual Giving and working with the Chief Development Officer and other Gift Officers, the Major Gifts Officer will play a pivotal role in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of high-net-worth donors. This is a full-time, exempt position based in our New York City headquarters, with a hybrid schedule requiring four days per week in the office.

You Will:

  • Manage a personal portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, cultivating relationships that lead to five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts.
  • Develop personalized engagement strategies to inspire donors and prospects to support the Child Mind Institute's mission and programs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement high-impact donor events and experiences.
  • Partner with the Director of Individual Giving and the Development team to grow the major gifts program
  • Collaborate with development operations to ensure donor segmentation, moves management, and metrics-driven strategies are implemented.
  • Work with the research team to identify and qualify prospective donors, expanding the major gifts pipeline.
  • Coordinate with the institutional giving and annual giving teams to align efforts and maximize interdepartmental opportunities.
  • Partner with senior leadership to prepare for high-level donor meetings, including research, proposals, and tailored messaging.
  • Serve as a key representative at donor meetings, events, and public engagements, promoting our mission and impact with clarity and passion.
  • Track portfolio performance, providing regular reports on donor engagement, gift officer activities, and revenue outcomes.
  • Analyze donor trends to inform strategy and optimize revenue growth.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a nonprofit environment, with experience securing and managing major gifts.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

Pay Range

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
