Job Description

As part of Dewberry's successin planning process, we are seeking a Deputy Business Unit Manager for our Denver, CO office to lead and manage a team of professionals working on a wide range of challenging Water/Wastewater projects. This is an opportunity for an individual to join a team of energetic, highly engaged staff in Dewberry's growing Water Market Segment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of effective growth leadership, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work with clients, engineers and other technicians on a variety of water and wastewater projects from planning through final design, construction, and commissioning. With support from the enterprise, the successful candidate will be capable of leading business development activities, operations management, and oversight of technical deliverables.

Dewberry offers a comprehensive and very competitive package of insurance programs to regular full-time employees and their eligible dependents the first of the month following their date of hire. The insurance package includes: medical, dental, vision, and supplemental life. Additional insurances, at no cost to the employee: life (employee only), accidental death and dismemberment, business travel and accident, and short- and long-term disability are also provided. Employees pay a share of Dewberry's premium expenses (on a pre-tax basis) for medical and dental insurance plans.

Responsibilities

    Oversight and management of the water/wastewater team
  • Development and execution of growth strategies consistent with the enterprise growth goals
  • Leading business development activities and client engagement strategies
  • Leading and overseeing proposal preparation including scopes of work, fee estimates, and technical approach development
  • Leveraging national Water Market Segment resources to pursue and win water and wastewater projects with Tier 1 water clients
  • Managing, providing technical assistance to, and mentoring junior staff
  • Oversight and Quality Assurance of technical deliverables including:
    • Memoranda, feasibility studies, and engineering reports
    • Hydraulic and process calculations
    • Plans and specifications for water, wastewater, and/or storm drainage system project elements (pipelines, pump stations, treatment systems)
    • Engineers' estimates
    • Technical specifications
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of team growth and engagement with the national Water Market Segment


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering (Masters preferred)
  • Possession of California PE license
  • 15+ years of water/wastewater engineering experience
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Track record of successful leadership, operations management, and growth

The projected range for this position is $175,000 - $240,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
