Overview

Con Edison's Talent Management- Employee Development Programs & Services (EP&S) team is seeking a strategic, innovative, and self-driven Section Manager to direct the activities of a dynamic team of professionals in managing, designing, and advancing career transition programs and providing distinctive technical, leadership development, and educational service across the enterprise. In this role, you will develop and implement the strategy for the about individual programs and services, lead and model service excellence to internal customers and seek innovative pathways to ensure adherence to policies, guidelines, program standards, consistency, firm timeframe, advance the desired culture of inclusion, excellence, safety and respect and model and reinforce the highest standards of emotional intelligence, decision making, discretion, performance management, diplomacy, plus more.The EP&S Manager will collaborate with key leadership stakeholders across the company on the oversight, development, and assessment of employees to support various stages of career and developmental growth. Our mission of this team is to develop the skills of our workforce by providing premier programs and services while cultivating leadership standards and expectations to prepare employees to lead our company into the future.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Direct the oversight, management, development, and execution of long-term leadership career transition programs:
  • The Leadership Development Program (LDP) Rotational early career program that prepares college graduates for entry-level management positions upon graduation.
  • The Tools for Employees Advancing into Management Program (TEAM) Transitional development program for union employees moving to a management position at Con Edison Company of New York (CECONY).
  • The Leadership, Education, and Development Program (LEAD) - Transitional development program for union employees moving to a management position at Orange and Rockland Utilities (ORU).
  • Leadership for Supervisors Program (LAS) Development program for new and experienced supervisors to support the continuous development of leadership skills.
  • Direct the oversight, management, development, and execution of a portfolio of education and technical training programs:
  • Tuition Aid Program Financial assistance for eligible employees interested in furthering their formal education related to professional and educational goals. Special Degree Programs Advanced degrees with strict adherence to eligibility guidelines.
  • Power Technology Certificate Program (PTI Transmission) Comprehensive technical program for managers and engineers to improve understanding of the power delivery system.
  • Distribution System Engineering Certificate Program (PTI Distribution) Comprehensive technical program for managers and engineers to improve understanding of the power distribution system.
  • Comprehensive Project Management Program (CPM) Expansive program for eligible management employees to build project management skills and understanding.
  • Technical Expertise Program Program for exceptional engineers identified for specific technical (functional areas) in the company.
  • Management Associated Results Company (MARC) Training program for first-line supervisors focused on performance management through responsibility, accountability, and support in labor relations and personnel matters. Facilitate MARC Protocol Group Meetings.
  • Manage external vendor contract management of globally recognized training providers.
  • Plan, assign, monitor and assess work functions of assigned staff; plan, direct, implement and evaluate training and development activities.
  • Conduct and coordinate data collection and lead the analysis for special projects, including research, surveys, meetings and events, focus groups, etc.
  • Implement tools to capture data to help monitor and measure effectiveness of training, programs and services; Collaborate with program support partners and participants.
  • Ensure compliance with the Standards of Business Conduct and EEO policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Support the implementation of and adherence to safety, health and environmental programs in accordance with company policy and government regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of relevant work experience with an understanding of job functions and program management, and supervisory experience or
  • Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant work experience with an understanding of job functions, program management, and supervisory experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant work experience with an understanding of job functions, program management, and supervisory experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, oral and written communication skills, required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and maintaining high energy level, flexibility and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, competing priorities and detailed assignments while working under tight deadlines, required.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, decision making and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and a solid teamwork orientation, required.
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor, credibility and confidence working with all levels of management/union personnel and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, required.
  • Demonstrated proven leadership skills, the ability to coach, motivate, develop and direct the activities of a high performing team, deliver high quality results, and foster a culture of inclusion, respect and excellence, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise discretion and sound judgment while providing quality customer service, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority to achieve results and bring about change, required.
  • Experience implementing one or more of the following areas: strategic planning, employee and management training, conflict resolution, leadership and career development, coaching, process creation/facilitation, required.
  • Knowledge of leadership development, education and training theory, required.
  • Analytical background for Tuition Aid Program budgeting and administration, required.
  • Experience with design, development and implementation of learning development, preferred.
  • Skill in the administration of various program evaluation/assessments (e.g., LDP, TEAM, LEAD, and LAS Programs), preferred.
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
  • Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to read small print and symbols
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
