Primary Purpose of Department
The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational programs. Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Annual Giving provides overall strategy, leadership and direction for the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation's annual giving program. This role manages all aspects of the annual giving program while maintaining a portfolio of donors, growing the membership to increase revenue, and serving as a development liaison to a number of sport programs. The role requires collaboration with various departments including University Advancement, the Athletics Ticket Office, and other partners across the University.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Director takes direction from the Chief Operating Officer and works in close partnership with the Executive Director, providing leadership to an Assistant Director of Annual Giving. The Director will also work closely with the Athletic Foundation's Event/Stewardship Coordinator to appropriately acknowledge annual fund donors.
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years fundraising experience at a Division I athletics program
  • Proven success in building productive, long-term relationships with donors
  • Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Must hold a current, valid driver's license


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree and 5 years fundraising experience at a Division I athletics program
  • Minimum one-year experience in a lead annual fund/sales role within a Division I athletics program
  • Ability to interpret complex data to guide strategic decisions
  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques, principles and evolving priorities
  • Proven success in fundraising specifically substantial growth of an annual fund program at a Division I athletics program
  • Working knowledge of Paciolan and Microsoft Office Suite programs
