The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and engineers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow, Poland) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing mission-critical AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSI's customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, Natural Language Understanding and Computer Vision.

Our AI team is focused on all aspects of 1) designing, prototyping and developing solutions (algorithms and architectures for object detection and tracking, classification etc.), 2) Machine Learning training and optimization (distributed training and inference acceleration) and 3) data (tools for data acquisition, annotation - both human and machine-powered, data pipelines and supporting ML infrastructure). We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Automation Lead who is passionate about the successful deployment of commercial systems employing deep learning and computer vision. As we transmit video and other situational information in real-time from our clients' devices to their command centers, we turn this data into actionable intelligence that helps to keep people safe.

The Quality Assurance Automation lead will be responsible for leading and hands-on participation in the quality assurance activities for our edge analytics security surveillance cameras, appliances, and cloud services. This lead will drive our releases, ensuring smooth and timely deployment of new features and bug fixes. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, quality testers, automation test engineers, product managers, and field support, to ensure successful IoT Software releases that meet quality standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Motorola Solutions Video and Software Business Unit produces the highest quality, easiest to use products in the surveillance industry

  • Lead the design & implementation of a quality evaluation pipeline, workflows, and reporting service for automatically testing IoT devices code prior to release.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy to ensure the reliability and performance of our edge-based video surveillance cameras and cloud-based services.

  • Execute quality assurance testing strategies for OTA firmware releases for cameras and appliances

  • Work with the quality team to develop an exhaustive test approach, including pass fail metrics, real and synthetic video datasets, and automation as part of a comprehensive test suite for each new feature.

  • Liaison with product management, embedded software developers, algorithm developers, data scientists, and user interface engineers to define system requirements and use-cases for each new analytics feature.

  • Coordinate with software development teams to define release scope, objectives, and timelines.

  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, reports, and documentation to track and communicate product quality improvements.

  • Analyze test results, identify trends, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to quality assurance and AI-based video surveillance systems.

  • Improve our cross-team software escalation process, ensuring timely resolution of critical quality issues and effective communication with stakeholders.

  • Identify and close testing holes in current test processes and automation

  • Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for both manual and automated testing.

  • Conduct off-site outdoor field testing of analytics features on camera hardware

  • Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy equipment as needed

Required Skills

  • Experience developing APIs and interfaces between test automation and third party AI statistical tools and databases.

  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex database systems for large-scale applications.

  • Experience with AI, machine learning, and computer vision technologies

  • Experience with TestRail, Zephyr, or similar test suites

  • Expertise in configuring networking equipment and servers, and familiarity with protocols and standards employed by IP cameras and video management systems, such as DHCP, TCP/IP, POE, SSH, RTP/RTSP, WebRTC, SSL, UART/Serial, generic WebUIs.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Azure DevOps, Github actions or other CICD pipelines

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams across geographically dispersed locations.

  • Experience in communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

  • Experience developing synthetic video using Blender, Unreal Engine, or Generative AI is a plus

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, or equivalent experience from a technical engineering discipline.

  • 4+ years experience engineering and authoring Python and Javascript automation software to test individual software components, as well as web-enabled embedded hardware, IoT, and/or Robotics.

  • Automation Test Engineer with over 4 years of experience in cloud connected applications with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.

  • 4+ years of proven quality assurance leadership experience, preferably testing firmware releases for video management systems, IP cameras, robotic products, embedded systems, and/or IoT devices

  • Outstanding team player with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot and think out of the box

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Highly organized, creative, and curious

  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in an autonomous, empowering, and exciting environment.

Target Base Salary Range: $72,700USD - $145,400USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Note: Candidate must go into the Somerville office 2 days per week.
