Your Role: We are seeking an individual to specialize in airfield lighting to provide design and production of contractually sound and biddable construction contract documents, and ongoing support to operations. These services support Port Aviation, Marine and Industrial facilities, which includes airfield, rail, building, dredging and transportation related projects. Project Engineers provide this leadership in support of the Engineering Project Manager, Planning Manager or Operations Manager. For those candidates, there's an opportunity to join us as an Engineer Designer II. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that combines work-life balance with team collaboration. You'll be in the office Tuesday through Thursday to engage with colleagues and support our business lines, with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.


Essential Job Duties

  • Provide engineering skills and leaders
  • Provide engineering skills and leadership for the design, modification, maintenance, and construction of Port facilities, systems, and associated assets.
  • Participate in projects to ensure the viability of engineering designs and proper utilization of Port facilities/assets.
  • Assist in day-today operations and capital asset expense planning.
  • Provide engineering skills to produce and/or review contractually sound and biddable project documents including designs, drawings, and specifications for complex construction projects or maintenance of Port facilities.
  • Provide engineering design, technical direction, and administrative skills as needed in the planning, development, and implementation of projects with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Support development of scopes, alternatives, studies, and estimates.
  • Prepare, develop, and manage the technical portion of contracts and procurements for services and equipment; perform work product reviews, identify concerns, and facilitate resolutions to increase quality and minimize potential issues.
  • Strong interest in design of airfield lighting system.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum four years of experience in progressively more responsible experience in an engineering capacity; experience in design, coordination, and/or management of capital projects.

OR;

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) - State Licensure Board, required.
  • Valid Driver's License - State DOT, preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities

  • Intermediate level design, coordination, and production of construction contract documents.
  • Intermediate level understanding of engineering design standards and related building codes and regulations for integration into project plans and designs.
  • Intermediate level of cost estimating procedures and best practices along with current industry techniques and practices for constructability.
  • Intermediate level with interactive CAD design skills.
  • Intermediate level of design, coordination, and/or management of projects.
  • Write construction specifications in Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) format.
  • Preferred knowledge or strong desire to learn the design and installation of Airport Visual Aids and airfield lighting system in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5340-30 requirements.

Security

Employees in this position will be required to successfully pass and maintain security clearance relevant to assigned duties such as SIDA (Security Identification Display Area).

Compensation
Our organization adheres to established salary ranges for each position to ensure equitable pay practices. However, final offers are determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and considerations of internal pay equity.

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of February 3, 2025.
  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
  3. Our goal is to schedule virtual first round of interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible.
