Technical Project Supervisor Job ID JR101657 Date posted 01/17/2025 The Superconducting Magnet Division (SMD) designs, builds, and tests superconducting magnets for usein particle accelerators world-wide. The SMD also builds magnets for various other applications (e.g.,Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage) and provides magnetic measurement services lab-wide.
This position involves supervising and training electrical technicians. Supervision will involve oversight of electrical support of daily magnet testing and magnet construction activities. In addition, Superconducting Magnet Division (SMD) is embarking on a modernization of its cryogenic test facility to prepare for the EIC Project and other R&D activities. Upgrades already underway include all systems, cryogenics, power supply, energy extraction, quench protection, data acquisition, field measurement, instrumentation, and monitoring systems. These upgrades include dismantling outdated systems and replacing them with systems of newer design from various sources.
