Modeling/Simulation Intern (Summer 2025)

Our summer internships provide ambitious undergraduates the chance to gain real world experience in their field of study. We provide challenging, professional experience with a global corporation, where you learn from and work alongside Donaldson employees. Internships take place at our global headquarters in Bloomington, MN, over a 11+ week period.

The Modeling and Data Science department seeks an intern to focus on one of the physics-based modeling projects at Donaldson. The primary project of this internship will touch upon computational fluid dynamics modeling, augmented reality, and experimental methods. Successful candidates may have some base knowledge, and a keen interest in developing technical skills such as simulation, modeling, augmented reality tools as well as gaining some experimental laboratory experience. Intern will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with US and global Donaldson team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Rising junior or senior pursuing undergraduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computer science or similar field.
• Basic knowledge of simulation work and tools, focused on fluid mechanics.
• Fluid mechanics coursework or practical experience.
• Interested in learning and applying Augmented Reality (AR) in industrial application.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of Ansys CFD, COMSOL, or similar software
• Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics gained through coursework/projects.
• Inclination to learn coding with programming languages such as Java or Python.
• Previous experience with Augmented Reality (AR) tool.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 - 27.00, depending on projected undergraduate graduation date, educational degree in progress and major of study upon time of hire.

This position is overtime eligible as per state and federal regulations.
