THE POSITION

Are you an Information Technology (IT) professional eager to expand your customer services skills? The Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center provides end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Network Specialist 1, you will be part of the Desktop Support Team in the Division of Customer Support and Operations. You will have the opportunity to serve as 2nd level desktop support where you will be responsible for using advanced PC and network troubleshooting methods to resolve higher complex hardware and software problems. Work includes providing support services in a LAN/WAN environment for the Northeast District Bureau of Community Health Systems, as well as all other program offices located within the Northeast District, various remotely located State Health Centers, State Hospitals, Scranton Vital Records, Quality Assurance Office in Bethlehem, Quality Assurance Office in the Scranton State Office building, and WIC Clinics. Work includes providing technical assistance via phone calls to the Service Desk and/or email notifications from internal and external customers; documenting call information; following standard procedures; as well as assisting with diagnosis and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Free parking
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week, with the possibility of more based on facility needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton State Office Building DOH Offices.
    • Although this is a telework position, you will be required to come to the Scranton office to pick up your equipment. Other reasons for coming into the office include: changes to the current telework, attend training, mandatory meetings, or on an ad hoc basis. Your supervisor will give you at least a 24 hour notice and all travel will be at your own expense.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Information Technology Intern - Bachelor Program; or
  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician; or
  • Three years of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment; or
  • One year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment.
