Overview
The Structures & Hydraulics Section of the Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking Technical Apprentices to work this upcoming summer, and assist our team with our ongoing evaluation of "Scour Critical Bridges". The Technical Apprenticescan expect to learn about engineering principles, practices, and materials, by assisting in project reviews, site inspections, investigations and much more. There will also be opportunities to work in the Hydraulics unit and there will be some travel to project sites. These positions are great opportunities for college students interested in engineering to gain valuable work experience. The positions are based in Barre, VT and allow for two (2) telework days per week. It is anticipated these positions will work up to 40 hours per week, with some flexibility. This position,AOT Technical Apprentice III (Job Req #51927), is open to all State employees and external applicants.This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Duties are performed in office and field settings for which private means of transportation must be available. May be required on occasion to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, traverse rough, wooded and/or steep terrain, or travel in boats. Field work may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions. Duties may require exposure to extreme weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of full-time college coursework in science, engineering, environmental studies, or related technical field. High school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year performing engineering/technical support tasks. Special Requirements
