What does a great Senior Legal Counsel, Employment do? Based in Atlanta, the Senior Legal Director, Employment will provide legal advice to the People Team across the globe on a variety of legal areas related to employment matters. This person manages a solicitor in Travelport's Langley UK office. As a results-oriented lawyer with an awareness of Travelport's objectives, the Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with the operational side of the business and be fully integrated into the heart of the organization, often being called on to advise on broader legal issues that arise within the business. This is an autonomous, pro-active and hands-on role that requires a strong labor, employment and benefits lawyer. Responsibilities include:

- Transactional employment matters in acquisitions, divestments, and joint ventures
- Executive Compensation:
- advice and counseling (RIFs, termination, hiring, restrictive covenants, wage and hour, discrimination/harassment, investigations, compliance)
- policy review/design
- drafting of contracts, offer letters, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, etc.
- training
- handling disputes and investigations, e.g. attorney letters, EEOC, DOL
- manage employment litigation
- Primarily in the US - work with Benefits Department and outside counsel on plan design, amendments, interpretation and claims for retirement (including pension), health and welfare (including retiree medical), severance and other ERISA plans
- Secretary/advisor to Employee Benefits Committee
- Senior Leadership Team contracts
- Long term incentive plan
- Annual bonus plan
- Sales incentive plan
- Perquisites
- Primary point of contact for auditors
- Coordination of global litigation matters
- FAS 5 reporting and audit confirmations
- Hold management, electronic data request and advice on privilege, records, hold management, etc.
- Manage legal budget for his/her area
Who we are looking for in this role:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- 8+ years of labor, employment experience, executive compensation, benefits and litigation
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively at all levels of the business with a variety of cultures and working practices
- A self-starter who is both dynamic and proactive and capable of working autonomously on his or her own initiative
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and drafting and negotiation skills are essential
- Commercially minded, solutions driven and a team player
- A highly flexible approach is necessary to meet the changing priorities of the business and the Legal Department
- At least 3 years' experience of working in-house is preferred.
