Job Summary

The Associate Intelligence Analyst is responsible for researching and analyzing external threats to the company, specifically those to critical energy infrastructure with a priority to the bulk electric system (BES) and gas control systems, and company senior leaders. The intelligence team manages and leads external threat assessments requiring evidence to support business, operational, and employment decisions. The company expects the Associate Intelligence Analyst to collaborate with the company's Threat Management, HR, Cyber Security Threat Management, Executive Protection, and physical and cyber security operations centers.

Intelligence analysts (IA) are skilled subject-matter experts who examine information from a wide array of sources. The IA must possess the skills and experiences to evaluate and assess the quality of information and meta-data.

The IA must demonstrate the capability to source the needed information, analyze, and develop meaningful intelligence assessments to enable security organizations and company business units to take action. IA provides the company with the finished intelligence assessments in the form of reports or oral briefings.

The IA must be able to recognize all relevant information and produce objective assessments, free of any bias. The IA must be skilled in both written and oral communications, and they must possess top-notch analytical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with conducting open source research on tactical threats to the company and monitoring of threat sensors.

  • Assist with research and analysis on tactical threats to the company.

  • Assist in the production of high quality intelligence products.

  • Conduct data input and assist with the maintenance of the intelligence management system.

Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or Other Related Degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Criminal Justice or Other Related Degree

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Office environment: 85%

  • Other: 15% to include power generation plants, electrical and natural gas infrastructure, and other like industrial and commercial facilities associated with critical energy infrastructure

Specific Requirements
  • Basic understanding of the Intelligence Cycle and intelligence operations.

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance at the SECRET level.

  • Basic understanding of intelligence collection tradecraft.

  • Basic understanding of research methodology and structured analytic techniques.

  • Responsive to direction. Strong writing abilities. Basic data management skills. Strong critical thinking skills.

  • Education: Bachelor - Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or related degree and 0 yearsof experienceOR

  • Associate - Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or related degree and 2 years of experienceOR

  • 4+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
