Accounts Payable Analyst

DoMyOwn, a subsidiary of Central Garden & Pet, has an opening for an Accounts Payable Analyst to join our team in this remote opportunity. This is a Non-Exempt, part-time position. During the slow season (Fall through Winter) this part-time role will work approximately 20 hrs. per week with the preferred flexibility to work up to 35hrs. per week during busy season (Spring through Summer) a plus. Flexibility with time window of daily work, but hours need to fit into standard work window of 8AM EST - 6PM EST. Compensation for this position starts at $16.00/hour based on experience.

This position will play a key role for Accounts Payable (AP) by driving standardization and process efficiencies. This role will provide excellent customer service and process transactions to support the AP responsibilities within Do My Own. This position may work in one or more disciplines within the AP functional area which may include, but is not limited, to transaction processing of direct and indirect spend and problem resolution. This position is responsible for assisting with continual process improvements and cost-effective delivery of services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers on operational goals within assigned area and ensures timely and accurate completion of work and daily tasks
  • Reviews invoices and statements, verifying information, determining accounts, and entering transactions.
  • Verifies accuracy, consistency with internal process and completeness of accounting documents
  • Reconciliation of invoices for daily payment processing
  • Working through invoice and pricing discrepancies with supervisor and vendors
  • Performs analysis on transactions to determine the source of any discrepancy and perform necessary corrections
  • Assists in the preparation of accounting statements or reports
  • Compile data and perform analysis to assist in the creation of custom reporting for internal use, government agencies, external auditors, and consultants
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy for entering invoices
  • Maintain proper documentation to support AP transactions entered
  • Work directly with vendors to request invoices, resolve any discrepancies, and maintain the account in good standing
  • Regular communication with updates, job status and work schedule with the team
  • Other duties as assigned to assist operations

Education/Skills/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years accounts payable or related experience
  • Experience working with large customer base and high volume of transactions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter who is goal oriented
  • Must have strong knowledge of AP and financial concepts
  • Experience working with mainframe-based enterprise systems
  • Ability to work in a heavily metric driven organization
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and processing accuracy
  • Possess process improvement mindset with a desire to consistently look for ways to improve efficiency and service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Perform multiple tasks effectively
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Consumer Products experience is a plus
  • Experience in a shared service environment is a plus

Working Conditions

  • Company provided laptop and equipment needed for work
  • Based in Atlanta, Georgia Metro-area is preferred
  • Eastern time zone is a plus
  • Travel - minimal to none
