The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Waymart is seeking dedicated and conscientious Nurse Aides. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Nurse Aide, you will provide skilled care and personal care to patients in a long-term care facility. You will collect specimens for lab work, assist with daily living activities, and ensure hygiene and basic physical needs are met for our inmates. This role requires dedication to care and genuine compassion to help maintain optimum inmate health. You will also complete documentation and respond to emergency situations as they arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • The DOC is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work hours for this position will be determined.
    • 1st shift is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift is 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; 3rd shift is 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirements:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
