DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Installation Police Officer, you will provide police services and protection to employees, the public, property, facilities, and grounds. You will patrol buildings and grounds by foot or by vehicle, investigate accidents, respond to calls for assistance, and determine the nature of reported emergencies. You will exercise the duties of a sworn police officer by enforcing laws, rules, and regulations through warning, citation, and arrest. In addition, you will direct traffic at public events and at vehicle accident sites, operate patrol vehicles and communications network equipment, administer first-aid treatment when other emergency personnel are not present, and participate in training programs to maintain essential job knowledge.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. You will work rotating 12-hour shifts, with rotating days off.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
  • You must obtain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
