Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to lead cost analysis and help streamline our accounting processes at Echo Lake Foods. This role will be integral to our efforts to enhance efficiency and profitability by heading up conversion projects, assisting in the evaluation of new accounting software (Vicinity), and converting all costing processes to Excel. The ideal candidate will have experience with MRP systems, standard costing, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis and Reporting:

    • Gather and analyze financial data related to profit margins and costs across multiple legal entities under one umbrella.
    • Prepare monthly financial reports and provide ad-hoc analyses to support decision-making.
    • Conduct audits on financial processes and transactions with a focus on costing.


  • Standard Costing and Variance Analysis:

    • Assist in creating a more efficient standard costing process.
    • Investigate variances between actual and standard costs and provide actionable insights.
    • Estimate costs for existing and new products.


  • Process Optimization:

    • Head up the conversion of all costing processes to Excel.
    • Evaluate and assist in implementing a new accounting software system (Vicinity).
    • Monitor changes in production processes or methods and calculate their impact on overall costs.


  • Strategic Contributions:

    • Forecast and analyze costs associated with processes, labor, and inventory.
    • Identify cost-reducing or profit-enhancing opportunities.
    • Collaborate across departments to drive efficiency and profitability.


  • Additional Duties:

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance and operations teams.




Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited program.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with a strong background in cost analysis and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, and experience with ERP/MRP solutions.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Vicinity software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the food manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Familiarity with standard costing and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement new accounting systems.
