Responsible for a variety of activities associated with the installation and maintenance of distribution and transmission pipelines to include directing crew members.

Dimensions:

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Performs a variety of activities as Lead:

    • Coordinates work to be performed at the job site

    • Ensures safety procedures are followed

    • Ensures equipment and materials are operational and available to perform tasks

    • Prepare and submit reports

    • Inspects work of contractors

    • Demonstrates proper procedures to crew members

  • Performs a variety of activities as working member of the Utility crew:

    • Displays the proper caution and traffic control signs

    • Locates line leaks and performs repairs

    • Performs tasks associated with annual valve survey and maintenance programs

    • Performs leak surveys

    • Fuse plastic pipe

    • Purge pipelines

    • Install leak clamps

    • Change stop-cocks

  • Performs related functions to include:

    • Call-out for emergencies

  • Other duties as assigned and required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or a GED

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Basic math skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Safety awareness

  • Commercial driver's license (CDL)

  • Previous related experience required.

Working Conditions:

  • Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.

  • Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; flexible work schedule; lifting up to 100 lbs; frequent bending, stooping, standing, digging, climbing; long periods of walking and standing; works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation; manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination); keen eyesight; good hearing; good sense of smell; comes in frequent contact with insects and animals.
