ROLE SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, SOX Controls will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the company's internal control framework, with a particular focus on manufacturing and inventory processes in a dynamic life sciences environment. This position requires a strategic thinker and a detail-oriented professional to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, enhance operational efficiencies, partner with the Business and support financial reporting accuracy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Review and Evaluate Existing Processes: Conduct comprehensive assessments of current inventory-related processes, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and areas of improvement to enhance control effectiveness.
  • Strengthen Controls: Evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of existing controls over inventory processes and implement enhancements to align with best-in-class practices and industry standards.
  • Improve Documentation: Oversee the development and refinement of process documentation, including narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices, to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Benchmark and Implement Best Practices: Research and integrate leading practices in SOX compliance and inventory control to elevate the organization's overall control environment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Finance, IT and Operations, to drive alignment and consistency in inventory processes and controls.
  • Internal Audit and Assessment: Coordinate and support ongoing internal and external audits by providing thorough documentation and addressing inquiries related to inventory controls.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop training programs and materials to build awareness of SOX requirements and best practices across the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish a framework for monitoring and refining internal controls to adapt to evolving business needs and regulatory changes.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 12+ years of experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, and inventory process management in the life sciences or biotech industry.
  • Experience in SOX compliance/internal audit in the life sciences industry or experience in SOX compliance/internal audit for a consulting firm, placed in the life sciences industry.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of inventory accounting principles, including cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory valuation under GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analytics tools to support inventory and control processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.
