Position Description
Incumbents in this position are trained to portray specific sets of health problems and symptoms that will aide students in learning the proper techniques and procedures for taking medical histories, performing medical examinations, determining diagnoses, and learning the appropriate way to educate and inform patients of diagnoses.

Major/Essential Functions
Performing a variety of duties in order to accurately and consistently portray specific types of symptoms as defined by a patient case. This frequently includes memorizing the history of their present illness, past medical history, physical exam results as well as demonstrating appropriate body language, emotional status, and personality characteristics. Standardized patients will be trained and monitored to ensure the proper information is given per case, professionalism is maintained as well as confidentiality to protect student privacy.

Required Qualifications
  • No acting or direct experience is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must have the ability to memorize and be improvisational.
