About the Job

The Langlois Lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology is hiring a Researcher 3 to join its team.

Coordinates research efforts for the laboratory including managing equipment, supply chains and personnel. Develops their own research projects performing experiments and analyzing data.

  • 10% Independently perform molecular analyses (PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, design and execution of molecular cloning, CRISPR cas, primer design)
  • 10% Make standard laboratory reagents (PBS and other buffers, LB media, agar plates, DMEM, etc.)
  • 10% Maintain tissue culture cell lines and primary cells
  • 20% Support scientists in the laboratory and conducts investigation in an assigned area to aid in the solution of a research problem (standard virology techniques and applying new techniques as needed) and preparing data for publication
  • 20% Manage day to day laboratory operations (shipping and receiving, ordering supplies, inventory, supervising undergraduate student workers). Ensure that the lab is properly stocked and clean. Oversee the use of laboratory equipment, provide training and maintain equipment as needed.
  • 20% Independent research and the discretion of the principal investigator. Includes data analysis and preparation of manuscripts
  • 10% Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree with a major in a biomedical science (Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc), plus at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant research experience to equal at least eight years.
* At least two years of full time research experience
* Experience with tissue culture
* Experience with primary human lung cell cultures
* Experience in molecular cloning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* At least one year of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics
* Experience with flow cytometry and/or fluorescence microscopy
* Experience mentoring/managing undergraduate student workers

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.00 - $32.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
