Organizational Unit Overview |
The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Unit: Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and the Assistant Dean or Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences.
Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational experiences for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service-Learning Centers located throughout North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed. Advanced patient care is also provided to patients by participating faculty in the Faculty Practice in Ross Hall. |
Job Duties |
The Central Supply Supervisor will be responsible for the ongoing operations of the central supply area. This area provides supplies and materials for each clinical area as well as the administrative areas of the school. The supervisor will work with each dispensary clerk and administrative area to ensure the constant availability of items needed to conduct the daily business of the school. The supervisor will work with the Office of Clinical Affairs to formulate standardized purchasing procedures within the established policies of East Carolina University, hire and supervise two central supply clerks, ensure the highest quality standards, and identify problems and formulate corrective action plans as necessary. The Central Supply Supervisor will report directly to the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs. Responsibilities of the Central Supply Supervisor include: Supervise and purchase items for the SoDM U-store program for the resale of typodont teeth and other items to SoDM students. Purchase special items for the SoDM not normally stocked in the storeroom. Purchase and supervise the special Alloy program for the SoDM lab. Work in conjunction with SoDM Dental Lab to handle all inbound and outbound lab models to various vendors. Supervise the Fed-Ex shipping program for the SoDM. Direct the storeroom operation on a day-to-day basis and set policies or help set policies on matters related to the storeroom operation. Establish short-term and long-term goals for the storeroom. Research and answer inquiries of SoDM employees as related to their material needs. Have a understanding of HR policies and how it relates to employees and answer questions concerning HR matters when presented. Have taken several HR courses during my employment at
ECU to have a better understanding of HR policies. Train the Central Supply Tech. in the use of
PORT and the guidelines used in the purchasing process. Help personnel at Ross Hall and the outlying Service Learning Centers with their questions and concerns about
PORT and sources in procuring material. Maintain Fed-Ex accounts for the Community Service Learning Centers and help maintain, and answer questions for our Fed-Ex shipping program at the SoDM.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the
