Our company is seeking a Van Driver on a split shift of 10am-6:30pm.JOB SUMMARY: Drive delivery vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as warehouses, post offices, plants, residences, offices, etc. JOB DUTIES: 1. Obey all traffic laws, posted signs and follow established traffic and transportation procedures. 2. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition. 3. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicle(s). 4. Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as warehouses, post offices, plants, residences, offices, etc. 5. Present bills and receipts for goods delivered or loaded. 6. Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles. 7. Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers. 8. Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations. 9. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or text. 10. Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, etc. 11. Other duties as assigned by designated dispatchers, including shipping, receiving, and dispatch duties. Work overtime as required to complete delivery routes and volumes Requirements JOB SKILLS: Valid & clear IL driver's license with no major accidents or DUIs. Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions. Use and maintain the tools or equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as hand trucks and weighing devices. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Van drivers need to have thorough knowledge of the roadways in and around the great Chicago area. Excellent knowledge of established traffic laws and transportation procedures. EDUCATION & TRAINING: High School diploma or GED required. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Safety training as required by OSHA regulations. Computer literate. Operation of equipment used in the shipping, receiving, and warehouse areas. EXPERIENCE: Three+ years of experience in driving. Prior experience in warehousing, or shipping and receiving is helpful. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Full motion/motor skills in all body parts. Ability to sit and drive for extended periods. Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
