Job Overview

The janitor is responsible for performing general cleaning and upkeep of the entire manufacturing facility. This includes cleaning floors, restrooms, offices, and common areas, as well as ensuring that all areas are free of debris and hazards.

A Day In The Life

Cleaning and Maintenance:



  • Sweep, mop, and polish floors in production areas, offices, and other spaces.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures.
  • Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.
  • Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of employee break rooms and common areas.


Safety and Compliance:



  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Report any necessary repairs or replacements when identified.
  • Ensure that all cleaning materials are stored properly and safely.
  • Comply with safety and health regulations regarding the handling and storage of equipment and chemicals.


Inventory Management:



  • Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Request purchasing of new cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition and stored correctly.


Special Tasks:



  • Assist with the setup, arrangement, and removal of decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets or meetings.
  • Respond to emergency cleaning requests as required.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Experience: Previous experience in janitorial services or building maintenance preferred.

Skills:



  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques, and methods.
  • Time management and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Work Environment:



  • The job may involve exposure to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, and noise.
  • Requires standing or walking for extended periods.
  • May require lifting of objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
