The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics seeks a temporary full-time Research Associate to work in the lab of Dr. Nicholas Trapp. The Trapp Lab focuses on the application and optimization of neuromodulation therapies for the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions using innovative methods of applying brain stimulation treatment to address difficult-to-treat conditions.

Responsibilities include:

Data collection, organization, entry, and analysis of behavior and neuroimaging data.

Carry out electrophysiology signal processing and image processing and associated data analysis with support from study investigators.

Contribute to documentation of methods and procedures.

Generate figures for manuscripts and grants based on research findings.

Write manuscripts and reports based on research findings.

Present results in in departmental seminars and professional meetings.

Develop code for processing pipelines associated with intracranial EEG data.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in psychiatry, psychology, biomedical, neuroscience, or related field.

One-year prior laboratory experience in a neuroscience field.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to analyze data and prepare presentations as needed.

Demonstrated strong analytical and data analysis skills.

Ability to work and learn independently and motivated to contribute to the wider research mission of the lab.

Desirable Qualification:

PhD or MD/PhD with focus in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field.

Experience in medical imaging in either lung physiology or neuroscience/brain imaging is desired.

Graduate research experience in analyzing and interpreting data from one or several of the following human neuroscience techniques: EEG (intra- or extracranial), subcortical LFP recordings, TMS, fcMRI, autonomic function measures including HRV.

Strong background in coding or signal processing.

Proficiency in a statistical analysis environment such as R, MATLAB, or Python.

Note:

This is a temporary, short-term and less-than six months position.
