Position Highlights:

  • Position: Phlebotomist Lead
  • Hourly Pay Range: $20.69-$30.00 The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Floating Locations: Naperville, Woodridge, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Oswego and Sandwich
  • FTE 1.0 Full-time
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 6am-3:00 pm

A Brief Overview: The Lead Phlebotomist/Educator possesses exceptional Phlebotomy skills and knowledge. The Lead Phlebotomist will be responsible for training individuals on performance of venipuncture/capillary draws with completion of associated checklists and competencies.

What you will do:

  • Provides support to the Phlebotomy team. Builds and maintains relationships with team members. Assists Manager in obtaining schedule coverage.
  • Teaches others how to perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques on patients of all ages utilizing age specific guidelines, adherence to order of blood draw guidelines and use of appropriate PPE and hand hygiene.
  • Performs competences for Phlebotomy staff. Assists with competencies as needed for hospital personnel performing phlebotomy.
  • Performs Phlebotomist job functions when not performing specified job duties related to position of Phlebotomy Lead/Educator.
  • Participates in QC, CI and QA activities by directing or performing collection of data for focus studies.
  • Performance non-invasive collection of specimens for culture, i.e. throat, nasal/MRSA, etc. and non-invasive cardiac testing, i.e. electrocardiograms. Performs and documents Point-of-Care testing as determined by laboratory test menu.
  • Monitors and maintains department equipment as required by manufacturer or laboratory policy. Keeps the workplace clean and operational per hospital and OSHA safety standards. Assists with maintenance of a safe work environment.

What you will need:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Phlebotomy experience with all ages and collection techniques
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills
  • A valid driver's license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
