POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is a special role designed for the Public Health programs. The Public Health Program Assistant (PHA) will primarily work with HIV prevention programs and ID medical case management. The PHA will have the responsibility of completing program administrative duties and Ambulatory Service Representative II responsibilities. They will work with the medical providers and program management to coordinate provider schedules, be responsible for screening calls/correspondence as well as responding and/or re-directing to appropriate parties for response, and assist in special projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Performs a wide variety of administrative duties for the Public Health programs including compiling, editing, and submitting data and specimen submissions including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting
  • Performs a wide variety of administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of assigned department including, but not limited to:

    • Reception & customer service
    • registration demographics
    • visit management
    • appointment scheduling (including consults, tests, in-office procedures, follow-up visits and cross- booking interpreters, social services, radiology, etc.) including reminder and no-show calls
    • insurance/coverage verification
    • co-payment collection
    • front-end review and correcting registration & insurance edits
    • pre-authorization, referral coordination and referral reconciliation
    • Referral work lists
    • EPIC pool management


  • Provides a variety of administrative duties in support of the practice (such as handling phones & mail, inventory, filling out forms, filing, photocopying, faxing, preparing letters, reports, etc).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma plus 2 - 4 years of work experience in customer service or healthcare including medical assisting

However, an equivalent combination of education and experience or specific certifications/licensures, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements

EXPERIENCE:


  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • 2 -3 years minimum administrative or customer service related experience.
