What is the opportunity?

RBC Global Asset Management is seeking a Director to cover the firm's Liquidity Management, short duration fixed income and select RBC banking relationships predominately across the municipal banking sector. Reporting to the Head of Liquidity Management and Banking Channel, the successful candidate will lead the development and execution of a successful sales strategy and personally drive sales across the assigned territory. He/she will be responsible for calling on public and state entities, corporates, third party portals, insurance companies, and nurturing strategic relationships to generate revenue across all short-term investors.

What will you do?

Responsible for selling RBC investment solutions and products to institutional investors (50%)

  • Within the defined geographic territory, the successful candidate will be responsible for positioning RBC GAM as a solutions-oriented investment management firm.
  • Together with the Head of Liquidity Management and Banking Channel, the successful candidate will develop a strategic sales strategy that is aligned with the business objectives of RBC GAM and include identifiable objectives and milestones to measure progress.
  • Develop productive dialogue with institutional investors with a focus on public entities, corporates, third party portal partners, cross RBC divisions and insurance companies in the Southeast territory in addition to supporting State and Municipal relationships nationally.
  • Generate activity in the region, defined primarily as quality in-person meetings with qualified institutional investors, and industry conferences on an as-needed basis.
  • Qualify leads and effectively manage the sales process by leveraging digital tools and data resources to enhance lead generation and increase the probability of success.
  • Must be a proven team player with demonstrated ability to work productively with teams across the firm.

Establish, grow and manage prospect pipeline and have demonstrated ability to convert opportunities to new business (25%)

  • To achieve the required revenue targets, the sales professional will need to generate a pipeline of well-defined opportunities that supports the individual's sales targets.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the pipeline and providing regular reporting of activities, new sales opportunities, key areas of focus and other initiatives.
  • Leverage relationships with broader Institutional Sales team members to bring non liquidity products to investment decision makers.

Presentation skills and investment acumen (25%)

  • Strong presentation skills are essential for this role, including the provenability to manage a meeting effectively and clearly articulate RBC GAM's overall value proposition.
  • Deep understanding of RBC GAM investment capabilities and the unique needs of each investor type with the goal of positioning investment solutions to meet investor objectives.
  • Must have the ability to articulate complex investment processes clearly, knowledgeably, and credibly.
  • Stay up to date on market trends & competitive landscape.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor's degree required, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related sales experience within an asset management firm which works with institutional investors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of short-term financial markets and investor types
  • Proven track record of success in raising assets on an individual basis with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key decision makers and influencers.
  • Must possess a wide network of institutional investor relationships across corporate and public entities.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, as well as an ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
  • Ability to work remotely with a high level of accountability.
  • Advanced designations such as MBA, CFA and/or CAIA preferred.
  • Series 7 and 63 required.
  • Ability/willingness to work in the designated US territory, which might require working from a home office.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage details and provide accurate, timely follow-up.
  • Ability and desire to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Adopter of digital efficiencies and software applications.
