Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a recent graduate of the Nurse-Midwife (Active licensure) program from Rutgers School of Nursing for an Academic Coach/Mentor for the School of Nursing. The Director of
OAS in collaboration with the Program Director for Nurse Midwifery and the Dual Women's Health/Nurse Midwifery Program will train the candidate to provide academic support to students on the Rutgers Newark Campus enrolled in the Nurse Midwifery program.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Supports will be offered remotely through Rutgers Zoom.
- Offers a structured framework for individualized coaching tailored to each student's unique learning needs.
- Assists students in mastering core concepts and excelling in specialized midwifery topics. Their guidance encompasses effective study strategies, time management techniques, and the cultivation of critical thinking and problem-solving skills crucial for success in midwifery practice.
- Assesses academic progress to pinpoint areas for improvement and collaborate closely with faculty to implement targeted interventions.
- Develops and curates educational materials and practice exercises that align seamlessly with the curriculum, ensuring coaching resources fully support course objectives.
- Fosters an environment conducive to comprehensive academic support and professional development in midwifery by establishing open lines of communication with students, faculty, and support services, Alumni Mentors and Academic Coaches.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

AMCB midwifery certification.

- Ability to use different teaching methods and to transmit information in a manner that is accessible and understandable to students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Proficiency in using technology for virtual tutoring sessions.
