  1. Basic Job Purpose:


The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development of manufacturing processes, maximizing efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, manufacturing & assembly methods and work force utilization. Determines tooling, fixtures and equipment needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals, designs fixtures & tooling required, works with R&D to ensure product manufacturability. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an ISO9001/AS9100D facility. Relies on team input, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.



  1. Assignment of Functions or Duties:



  • Ensure successful transitioning of new products from product development to production.
  • Confer with R&D Engineering, Production/ Manufacturing, Quality and Materials staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Assesses manufacturability of product with R&D Engineering.
  • Participates in design reviews and approval phases.
  • Evaluate tooling or equipment requirements to support production/manufacturing.
  • Support design changes of product once it enters production.
  • Assists in the development of inspection criteria with Quality Control.
  • Support of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities associated with development and production/ manufacturing problems.
  • Creating, maintaining and improving processes, workflow, and process documentation.
  • Develops and/or improves assembly fixtures in support of development and production of products.
  • Creates and submits Engineering Change Request to Engineering for review and approval.
  • Review & approves Engineering Change Orders.
  • Work with Materials Group to develop and implement technical requirements for suppliers. Coordinate and/or participate on supplier assessment, work with suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain product Bill of Materials in ERP system.
  • Work with cross functional teams to create and maintain Methods of Manufacturing within ERP system.
  • Work with QA on Production & Manufacturing issues and inspection criteria. Coordinate/support non-conforming product disposition working with the Production/Quality department to define the proper disposition of the non-conformity.
  • Provide technical engineering expertise to Production & Manufacturing.
  • Support of the APQP process (PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Flow).


Creates and maintains work instructions for production.



  1. Minimum Requirements of Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:



Required



  • 5-7 years working in a Manufacturing environment
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Must be open-minded and flexible, exhibits sensitivity, honesty and integrity
  • General knowledge of weld, machining & overall manufacturing process & equipment
  • Experience with interfacing with suppliers to support process development and cost reduction for new products
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in working with military specifications and requirements



Preferred



  • Preferred B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
