Description We are seeking an Accounting Manager- Special Projects for our Walnut Creek office. This position will be primarily responsible for a few distinct projects and aiding the corporate accounting department during quarter close. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and have one direct report. This position is at our corporate office in Walnut Creek, California. Our office is located just a block from the Pleasant Hill Bart Station and is near great restaurants and the Iron Horse Trail, with a short drive to downtown Walnut Creek. To learn more about Central Garden & Pet, please see our website at www.central.com. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary LeaseQuery Data Administrator (lease accounting software). SAP GRC Administrator (segregation of duties for SAP ERP). Works with the Corporate Controller, corporate accounting team and Business Unit personnel on a variety of Finance/Accounting related projects. Corporate Accounting contact person for issues that pertain to financial accounting relating to SAP implementations and SAP use. Evaluate and document analysis and conclusions associated with accounting issues and transactions. Communicate effectively and build strong relationships throughout the organization. Assist team in producing accurate and timely financial statements, may include SCC reporting support (depending on experience). Perform record keeping and bookkeeping functions for a small Joint Venture QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field 5+ years of experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience, preferably with a public company CPA preferred ASC 842 experience is a plus Accounting experience and a solid knowledge of an ERP software (SAP a plus). SEC experience a plus Technical accounting research skills desired Ability to manage a complex set of objectives and team goals Strong technical skills including, fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Exceptional financial and operational analysis skills Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity.
