This position can be based in Temple, TX or Carrollton, TX. The UX/UI Senior Designer will report and work from these office on a regular basis. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute commute to Temple, TX or Carrollton, TX.

The Senior User Experience Designer is responsible for designing end-to-end digital experiences that captivate and delight our customers and teammates. This position collaborates daily with a team of product owners, software engineers, marketers, teammates, and customers (very different need states of different types of customers) to turn ambitious ideas into visually stunning and highly functional designs. Expertise in Figma and design systems will establish the customer journey, creating solutions that don't just meet requirements but exceed customer and teammate expectations.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Continually seek to learn supply chain management, the retail and restaurant businesses McLane serves, be curious to learn from teammates and from customers on a regular basis. Create strong connections with subject matter experts in various domains within the company and understand the nuances within the business. Travel as needed to Distribution Centers and to customer locations to understand the reality on the ground.
  • Design and Prototype Experiences: Utilize Figma and design systems to create personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that demonstrate user flows, interaction patterns, and the overall structure of Mobile Apps, Websites, and Web technology-based applications.
  • User-Centric Design: Think about the entire customer experience when proposing solutions, considering end-to-end user journeys. Create designs based on research and data insights. Some types of research could be evaluative field research of various roles of teammates within McLane or heuristic audits of current state systems.
  • Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work with Product Owners, Developers, and Analytics teams to ensure designs are implemented effectively and meet business and user goals.
  • Proactive, Data-Driven Optimization: Use analytics, heatmaps, A/B testing, AI, GenAI, and other data sources to continuously improve the site's UX and performance.
  • Ensure Consistent Brand Experience: Closely partner with the MarCom team and understand McLane's brand guidelines. Maintain the prescribed brand guidelines, ensuring all elements of the digital applications are aligned with the company's visual identity, design language and voice.
  • Responsive Design: Design responsive and adaptive layouts that provide optimal experiences across mobile, desktop, and tablet devices.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Stay updated on UX design best practices, industry standards, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to bring fresh ideas and approaches to the team.
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.


Minimum Skills & Qualifications:



  • Experience: Three or more years of UX design experience (preferably within supply chain industry) with a focus on consumer-facing mobile apps and web applications, with a portfolio demonstrating impactful work.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to present to senior leadership and articulate the strategy and execution of various designs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Figma (or similar tools like Sketch or Adobe XD) and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with design systems. Familiarity with Material Design and responsive frameworks. Bonus points for proficiency in Zeplin.
  • Collaboration: Skilled at working with cross-functional teams and communicating design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Working knowledge of mobile app and website, and ability to collaborate with developers. Adaptability to dynamic environments and global team collaboration.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced, agile software development, environment with shifting priorities; able to balance creativity with meeting user and business needs. Iterate designs based on user feedback, analytics, and performance metrics to enhance engagement and adoption.
  • Problem-Solving & Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; committed to creating inclusive, seamless experiences that address edge cases and improve usability.
  • Time Management: Proven experience with prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Front-End Knowledge: Understanding of front-end development technologies (iOS, Android, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
