The Senior Principal Data Architect will play a pivotal role in driving data platform strategy, design, and implementation at Cox Enterprises, with a primary focus on leveraging Microsoft Fabric and the Azure ecosystem. This role will help shape the organization's data maturity and strategy, emphasizing the development of core data domains and the integration of AI/ML capabilities enabled by robust data platforms.

The architect will balance hands-on technical expertise with thought leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that meet enterprise goals. Expertise in Data Governance principles, Informatica platforms for data governance and integration, and advanced data architecture practices will be essential.

Platform Strategy and Design

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for data platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
  • Architect and deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions using Azure technologies, including Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop data governance frameworks and implement best practices in collaboration with business and technical leaders.


Implementation and Delivery

  • Drive the creation and maintenance of data domains across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data integration pipelines and governance solutions using Informatica and Azure services.
  • Provide technical leadership for deploying AI/ML capabilities to advance analytics and predictive modeling.


Governance and Standards

  • Champion architectural governance, establishing and promoting standards for data architecture, quality, and security.
  • Develop reusable architectural patterns and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Facilitate technical reviews to maintain consistency and quality across data platform initiatives.


Innovation and Collaboration

  • Stay informed on emerging data and AI/ML technologies, evaluating their applicability to business challenges.
  • Act as a key advisor to leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities within data architecture and related domains.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning across architecture and data teams.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable data solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with teams across the organization, ensuring alignment on priorities and objectives.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline and 12 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as master's degree and 10 years' experience; a Ph.D and 7 years' experience in a related field; or 24 years' experience in a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in data architecture, platform development, or related fields.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Azure and Microsoft Fabric ecosystems, including Data Lakes, Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.
  • Minimum 6 years' architecture experience working with Data Governance principles, including metadata management, security, and compliance.
  • 7+ years implementing enterprise data platforms in hybrid and cloud environments.
  • Proven experience with Informatica platforms for data governance and integration.


Preferred

  • Advanced certifications in Azure or Data Governance (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, CDMP).
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and implementing data-driven AI capabilities.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines for data integration.
  • Demonstrated leadership in complex data projects across large-scale organizations.

USD 192,800.00 - 321,400.00

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $192,800.00 - $321,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
