* The Program Coordinator will provide leadership and expertise in the areas of Risk Management, Camps and either Group Exercise or Personal Training oversight for the Student Wellness Center. Responsible for hands-on operations including personnel supervision, customer service, camp design and delivery, staff/student development and training, safety and risk management. This position is unclassified and salaried and reports to the Assistant Director of Programs. The qualified candidate will be required to work hours as needed for programmatic and university related events.

What you will do:




  • Develop and design Camps program , including working with marketing to market, protection of minors, activities, work with system risk management to meet standards and age related activities and separation



  • Provide supervision for day-to-day operation assigned program areas



  • Provide daily supervision of assigned staff



  • Plan, develop, and implement procedures around sound risk management protocols to ensure safety



  • Staff supervision including hiring, training, scheduling, feedback, evaluations, payroll and disciplinary processes for staff. The development and engagement of student staff is an emphasis.



  • Provide on-going education and support for supervised staff members through regular trainings and in-services



  • Collaborate with department staff to ensure facility spaces are maintained to meet industry standards for programmatic use. This includes implementing routine inspections and audits.



  • Assist with the annual budget submission. Provide financial supervision necessary to achieve budget targets, carrying out best practices in financial stewardship.



  • Develop for review and approval any pertinent program area procedures, processes and training or operations manuals.



  • Working with department marketing staff, implement publicity strategies to maximize program participation. Conduct outreach efforts in order to increase awareness and visibility of program areas.



  • Ensure the highest possible level of customer service in order to provide exceptional experiences.



  • Implement program assessment tools to assess market needs and interests, participant satisfaction and overall program feedback. Report on results, including strategies for process improvement.



  • Inventory and maintain all equipment and supplies within area to ensure quality, safety and security.



  • Provide ongoing, semester and annual updates on pertinent measures of success, including participation, assessment data, and financial status and area happenings.



  • Serve on campus committees as assigned



  • Other duties as assigned




Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)




  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, health promotion, higher education, sports management or a related field.



  • Current certification in CPR, AED and first aid or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.


  • Two (2) years professional level experience with programming and development within Higher Education


Substitution: A bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)




  • Master's degree in recreation, health promotion, higher education, sports management or a related field.



  • Demonstrated supervision experience, including the development of student staff.



  • Experience with collaborative programming and the ability to form positive relationships.

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to resolve conflict in a professional and educational manner.



  • Proven written and organization skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to manage a dynamic environment.



  • Professional involvement in organizations like the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).



  • Ability to work variable schedule which may include early mornings or evenings, as well as weekends and nights, and the ability to attend on and off campus events.


  • Must hold a current CPR/AED certification at the time of appointment.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $53,486 - $58,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
