POSITION CONCEPT

The Security Operations Specialist is responsible for the coordination of physical security and contract security services supplied to the Tampa Electric Company and Peoples Gas Company. Assists leadership in the development and implementation of security services, such as day to day operations, training, project planning, organizational structure, and protective services. Works under the guidance of the Security Operations Coordinator with the coordination of physical security and contract security services for the Tampa Electric Company and Peoples Gas Company. May also assist leadership in the development and implementation of security services such as day to day operations, training, project planning, and protective services.

ADVANCEMENT IN PROGRESSION

Advancement to a higher level is based on value added to the Company's through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Advancement is not automatic, i.e. based solely on time in the job, but will be based on direct observation of the employee's performance, accomplishments, qualifications (to include achievement of required licenses and certifications), and the business and/or technical needs of the department.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Security Coordination for unarmed security service, armed security service, security site compliance Checks and Security Drills.

Provides project oversight, coordinates resources, requisitions equipment, and manages

contractors. Provides advice and counsel to Security team members. Ensures maintenance of certifications for Security Team members, and reviews Security Logs and acts on findings.

Handles High Risk Event Situations, i.e. workplace violence issues, customer threats, and Part One Crimes.

Provides 24-hour coverage and on-call availability responding all emergencies related to

security functions, i.e. security incidents, alarm responses, and other all hazard emergencies as required.

Provides Executive Protection. Serve as Protection detail leader and travel security.

Participates in training for Firearms and weapons, and tactical response training.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Works in conjunction with a Security Operations Coordinator and reports to the Security and Emergency Preparedness Manager.

Key External: Participates in professional security organizations, law enforcement meetings,

and other entities involved in the private security sector.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications

Required: Must possess a Class "C" and a Class "G" license under Florida State Statutes 493

and 790 and must demonstrate a 90% or greater proficiency with the assigned weapons system or obtain within 6 months in the position.

Preferred: Physical Security Professional (PSP) from ASIS International or Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

Direct Experience

Required: 4 years experience in Law Enforcement, Military or in the Security Industry.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

Required: Knowledge of security force operations and basic interview, and negotiation

skills.

POSITION CONCEPT:

The Security Operations Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of security operations and contract security services for the Tampa Electric Company and Peoples Gas Company. Assists leadership in the development and implementation of security services for the corporation, such as day to day operations, training, project planning, organizational structure, and protective services. Able to act independent of specific instruction or direct supervision.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversees team members responsible for the coordination of the armed and unarmed security deployment. Develops, coordinates and teaches personal protection and security awareness programs (20%)

2. Assists in coordination of security projects. (20%)

3. Conducts Security Compliance Checks of sites and security personnel. (20%)

4. Conducts Security Drills of sites with team members and security personnel. (20%)

5. Ensures Project compliance of DHS, NERC CIP, TSA and FERC regulations and assessments. (10%)

6. Provides assistance in planning and forecasting budgetary requirements of the department. (10%)

SUPERVISION

Direct: None - May have oversight for all contract security service providers.

Indirect: Acts as a mentor and trainer for less experienced Corporate Security personnel.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Coordinates the armed and unarmed security force and is a consultant to the

corporation management in areas of security force deployment.

Key External: Participates in professional security organizations, law enforcement meetings,

local, state Fusion Centers and other entities involved with private security sector.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field (i.e., Sociology, Psychology,

Business Admin, etc.)

Experience

Required: 6 years experience in Law Enforcement, Military or in the Security Industry.

Licenses/Certifications

Required: Must possess a Class "C" and a Class "G" license under Florida State Statutes 493

and 790 and must demonstrate a 90% or greater proficiency with the assigned

weapons system or obtain within 6 months in the position.

Preferred: Physical Security Professional (PSP) from ASIS International Facility Security Officer (FSO) from the Department of Homeland Security. Certified Protection Professional (CPP) may be substituted for any of the required certifications.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

Required: Executive protection, tactical response, security force management, interview and negotiation skills.
