The Position
As the Campus Mobility, Electrification and Genentech Fleet Director, you will design, influence, and oversee specific programs within Genentech's transportation portfolio. This includes owning the vision and strategy for the Genentech US Pharma United States 1500+ vehicle fleet and service vehicle fleets across the US. A key aspect of this role involves providing ongoing vision and strategy for all zero-emissions mobility activities to ensure North America Pharma and Dia sites achieve the 2030 Zero Emission (ZE) goals. This encompasses overseeing site charging infrastructure for both company and employee electric vehicles, as well as end-to-end ownership of Genentech's electric and diesel motorcoach fleet. Key Responsibilities
Vision and Strategy: Develop and execute mobility and parking strategies to support significant changes at the South San Francisco campus over the next 20 years. Budget Management: Manage approximately ~$30 million of Genentech's Commercial and Transportation Departments' budgets. People Management: Lead and develop a team of three or more transportation team members, encompassing workload management, goal setting, and performance feedback. Partner/Vendor Management: Manage performance and compliance of multiple critical vendors, maintaining strong relationships with executive level personnel and ensuring adherence to DOT regulations, environmental policy, tax law, and relevant city/county codes. Innovative Problem Solving: Create mobility and parking solutions that support the evolving South San Francisco campus, impacting the productivity and commuting patterns of ~10,000 individuals. Zero Emissions Leadership: Drive projects and programs to meet Roche 2030 ZE goals, including SSF bus depot fast charging, employee Level 2 EV charging infrastructure, and electrification of corporate and service vehicle fleets. Fleet Leadership: Oversee vision and strategy for the US Pharma vehicle fleet and service vehicle fleets, managing end-to-end activities from specification and procurement through maintenance and retirement. EV Charging and Parking Solutions: Design and implement EV charging and parking solutions during campus construction periods, managing associated investments and ensuring optimal use of assets to generate financial offsets. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a subject matter expert to Vice Presidents and other senior leaders, influencing fleet efficiencies and zero-emissions practices. Industry Influence: Represent Genentech at conferences and forums, sharing insights and industry-leading practices.
Requirements
Education: BS/BA or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering; Urban Planning; Facilities Planning; Operations Management, or related field. Experience:
12-15 years of relevant work experience, with at least 8 years in direct project/program management. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing direct reports. Experience as an effective subject matter expert and spokesperson both internally and externally. Experience leading performance-based, customer-focused programs. Experience managing large vendors and third-party service providers.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of large charging infrastructure deployments, vehicle maintenance, and environmental law. Outstanding analytical skills and financial acumen. Skilled at developing business cases/ROIs and managing budgets of at least $20M. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with proven cross-functional team collaboration. Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Strategic thinking and ability to develop goal-aligned strategies. Passion for continuous process improvement, especially through LEAN or Operational Excellence methodologies.
Relocation benefits are not available for this posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $169,600.00 - $315,000.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
