Responsibilities

Valley Behavioral Health is looking for a Chaplain who can work 32 hours/week.

The Chaplain functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients depending upon which unit worked. The chaplain utilizes clinical and pastoral skills to assist the treatment team in giving care to patients. Special focus is given to developing the religious resources of each patient in the healing process. The Chaplain also provides support to the Clinical Services department with coordination of care and discharge planning. When doing so, they advocate for the patient's access to services during treatment team meetings, communication with outpatient teams and referrals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biblical or Religious counseling/studies preferred.

Experience: Past experience in pastoral or ministry field required. One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness and chemical dependency (12 step program) preferred.

Certification: Clinically Certified Chaplain preferred

Additional Requirements: Valid CPR card upon hire. Successful completion of Handle with Care including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.
