The Director of Procurement will lead and oversee the procurement process and will possess deep expertise in procurement strategies, sourcing, negotiations, and contracting. This role ensures an efficient and effective purchasing process that supports Progyny's operational and financial goals.

What you'll do...

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and mature core sourcing and procurement competencies, including business relationship management, stakeholder collaboration, category planning, negotiation best practices, analytics, project management, finance, and communication.

  • Establish policies, standards, and models to coordinate vendor selection, onboarding, and ongoing management, balancing cost, risk, and agility.

  • Identify cost optimization opportunities across the organization and present concise business cases to stakeholders.

  • Advise on drivers, market dynamics, and trends to develop effective sourcing and procurement strategies across spend categories.

Vendor Management and Negotiation

  • Lead negotiations with prospective and existing vendors for new contracts, renewals, and RFPs/RFIs.

  • Serve as the escalation point for vendor issues and disputes, ensuring resolution.

  • Present vendor and industry trends to stakeholders, proposing updates and improvements to existing strategies.

Process Improvement and Analytics

  • Implement and lead analytics and reporting for procurement processes, including vendor/contract compliance, supplier scorecards, and other best practices.

  • Advance organizational agility and risk management by adopting automation, new technology, and leveraging internal and external data sources.

Collaboration and Risk Management

  • Collaborate with the Legal team on contract management and maintenance.

  • Lead supply chain risk management, maintaining a vendor/supplier risk register as part of broader enterprise risk management efforts.

  • Support skill development in data analytics, negotiation, and collaboration across the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership on procurement activities, challenges, and opportunities.

About you...

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in procurement roles with expertise in contracting for services, technology, software/SaaS, products, and consultants.

  • Strong analytical skills to support procurement strategy development, execution, and measurement.

  • Proven stakeholder-influencing skills to drive change effectively.

  • Superb relationship-building and interpersonal skills in complex environments.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly at the senior executive level.

  • Demonstrates integrity and a results-focused approach.

  • Current knowledge of global IT products, services, and market trends.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CPSM, CPSD, CIPS, or CSCP are a plus.

  • Master's degree, such as an MBA, is desired.

  • Experience with healthcare standards and policies.

  • Government contracting experience.

  • Experience working with value-added reseller (VAR) channels.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address root causes of complex vendor and customer challenges.

  • Ability to effectively manage shifting priorities, multiple projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Skilled at determining appropriate levels of risk acceptance and mitigation.

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $170,000 - $180,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
