Volkswagen Group of America's manufacturing plant located in Chattanooga, Tennessee is looking for our next class of Automotive Systems Technology Students! Volkswagen is growing, with its SUV, the Atlas, the Atlas Cross Sport, and the new all electric ID.4. It is such an exciting time to be a part of the company!

The Automotive Systems Technology student will complete a two-year apprenticeship program which combines electrical training, programing, electronics, computer and controls systems into a design useful for diagnostic and repair of the electric vehicle. This development program is a partnership between Volkswagen Group of America and Chattanooga State Community College.

Responsibilities

  • This apprenticeship program is designed to develop the best trained, multi-skilled Automotive Systems Technology apprenticesin the automotive industry.
  • The apprenticeship combines multiple vehicle systems disciplines into a holistic approach for troubleshooting and resolving problems in an automotive repair and diagnostics area of Volkswagen Chattanooga's manufacturing plant.
  • The apprenticeship program runs 3 semesters throughout the year. Students will go through a total of 6 semesters including academic and on-the-job training semesters.
  • Students are enrolled in Chattanooga State Community College during the apprenticeship program and will receive an Electric Vehicle Engineering TechnologyAssociate's ofApplied Science Degree upon completion.
  • Academic semesters consist of classes in the Volkswagen Academy, which are taught by Volkswagen and Chattanooga State instructors. On-the-job training semesters take the apprentices into the plant where they work in various areas, focused on the electric vehicle technology to apply theories and skills in an diagnostics setting and gather work experiences
  • The apprenticeship is paid after an 8 month probation period.
  • The schedule for academic semesters is from Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day. The schedule for on-the-job training may vary by department.
  • Team wear is required and provided along with appropriate PPE.
  • A conditional job offer is made at the end of the apprenticeship program based on performance, exam scores, successful completion and business needs.

Qualifications

Required:



  • High School diploma or GED
  • Able to apply for college with a minimum of 19 on the ACT or able to pass a competency test
  • Valid drivers license
  • Need to apply and be accepted by both, Volkswagen Group of America and Chattanooga State Community College
  • Commitment to learning and development
  • Ability to follow instructions


Preferred:



  • Math Skills
  • Hands-on experience in mechatronics / electrics / information
  • Problem solving skills
