Job Purpose

The Supply Specialist (EX2) position is a primary liaison with AHM's highest-impact parts supplier network to ensure availability of service parts to American Honda dealers. The Specialist's primary responsibilities are to manage purchase receipts, maximize on time delivery, ensure overall supplier performance in accordance with department goals, maximize service level to customers, and perform root cause & countermeasure activities. The EX2 position will further contribute by coordinating AHM's more complex supply chain related to Drop Ship suppliers, Service Kits, Campaign/Inflator Kits, Bill of Material management, Overseas-supplied components, and issues arising from Tier 2 / Tier 3 suppliers.

Key Accountabilities




  • On Time Delivery targets met for all suppliers
  • Minimize past due deliveries to AHM
  • Achieve service level targets per department requirements
  • Coordinate on time delivery of new model parts to AHM
  • Quickly resolve Delivery Trouble Reports (DTRs)
  • Efficiently and accurately manage delivery ETA information relayed to AHM dealer network and Analysts
  • Quick resolution of Critical Backorders per department requirements
  • Supplier contract Input and Accountability
  • Higher complexity of Root Cause Identification & Countermeasure implementation



Qualifications, Experience and Skills




  • Minimum Educational Qualifications

    • BA/BS degree in Business or equivalent
    • Equivalent work experience acceptable
    • Supply chain affiliations (i.e. APICS) and/or Master's Degree a plus


  • Minimum Experience

    • 3 + years of supply chain and/or equivalent work experience, automotive and/or procurement background preferred
    • Working knowledge of Delivery and Service Level


  • Other Job-Specific Skills

    • Negotiating
    • Planning & Organizing
    • Communication & Informing Skills
    • Working knowledge of Part Drawings & Bills of Material (BOM), including system entry and maintenance of L1/L2 components & suppliers
    • Knowledge of overseas parts procurement procedures, including interaction and regular communication with overseas genpo staff
    • Commodity-specific knowledge. Examples include raw materials such as steel, aluminium, component supply methods and drop-ship distribution channels
    • Process-specific knowledge at the suppliers (stamping, welding, injection molding, forming, complex assemblies, glass, etc)
    • Knowledge of AHM drop-ship system, including inventory entry and reconciliation / discrepancy resolution
    • Familiarity with AHM's Seihan meeting format
