How will your role help us transform hope into reality?

Blueprint Medicines is seeking a motivated scientist with a B.S., M.S. or PhD to engage in medicinal chemistry programs that lead to the identification of drug candidates for clinical development. You will need to possess strong core competence in modern synthetic organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry to be successful in this opportunity.

What will you do?



  • Design, plan, and execute multi-step organic syntheses and purifications of small molecules as a member of cross-functional research teams
  • Work with internal/external teams to efficiently design and deliver high quality compounds for biological evaluation
  • Summarize and interpret analytical data and generate research reports/presentations for both internal and external use
  • Work collaboratively across diverse functions within and across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Work with the chemistry project leader to effectively manage the internal/external chemistry team
  • Anticipate and ensure the development of high-quality synthetic routes to key intermediates and compounds
  • Work with the chemistry project leader to identify critical issues and devise medicinal chemistry strategies to advance high quality chemical matter
  • Effectively communicate new project proposals, medicinal chemistry strategies, innovative ideas and results, both informally and in meetings with colleagues and management



What minimum qualifications do we require?



  • B.S. in organic chemistry or a related field and 12+ years of medicinal chemistry experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotechnology setting OR
  • M.S. in organic chemistry or a related field and 9+ years of medicinal chemistry experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotechnology setting OR
  • PhD in organic chemistry or a related field and 3+ years of medicinal chemistry experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotechnology setting



What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?



  • Demonstrated experience in the design and synthesis of bioactive compounds, with experience in the design and preparation of heterobifunctional and monovalent degraders preferred
  • Demonstrated exemplary skills in all aspects of modern organic and medicinal chemistry, including data analysis, single compound synthesis, small parallel library design and synthesis, structure-based design and analytical and purification methods
  • Experience implementing medicinal chemistry strategies across all stages of medicinal chemistry from hit identification, through to lead optimization to achieve program goals
  • Experience functioning within strong multi-disciplinary teams and utilizing cross-functional information, such as biochemical activity, ADME and pharmacological data, to drive medicinal chemistry strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in complex problem solving through in-depth analysis of data
  • At home in a results-driven, highly accountable environment where you can make a clear impact
