Under the general supervision of the Director of Electrical Engineering, provides the necessary leadership, communications, organization, planning and control for the Performance and Operational Engineering and Mapping sections of the Electrical Engineering organization. Performs the role of Section Manager for Performance and Operational Engineering with internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for electric reliability regulatory reporting, resolving escalated reliability complaints, internal electric reliability reporting and visually documenting both gas and electric plant assets.
Core Responsibilities
- Develops goals and objectives for the Performance and Operational Engineering Department, monitors performance, controls expenditures, and makes necessary adjustments.
- Prepares O&M budgets, ensuring projects and programs meet regulatory and compliance requirements for system security, cyber security, safety, and reliability.
- Prepares electric reliability regulatory reports for NYPSC and NJBPU, and internal performance reports (weekly, monthly, annual).
- Directs and supervises engineers in the analysis of electric interruptions to meet compliance, regulatory and audit obligations.
- Interfaces with various departments to resolve system issues and escalated electric customer reliability issues promptly.
- Ensures the GIS data are updated in a timely manner.
- Develops, reviews, approves, and maintains disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Monitors subordinates performance and provides critical feedback for their development.
- Creates and sustains a professional, honest, and team-oriented workplace environment focusing on organizational health.
- Leads department training activities and stays updated with industry best practices.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 8 years of related work experience or
- Master's Degree Engineering and 6 years of related work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 12 years of related work experience
- Master's Degree Engineering and 8 years of related work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Related experience in the engineering, operations, and/or maintenance of the Companys electric system.
- Experience with PSC/BPU regulatory filings
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills and the ability to work with all levels of management.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business/engineering decisions.
- Able to communicate effectively and efficiently and to work in harmony with other departments and outside customers and regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of the Orange and Rockland electric transmission and distribution system, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and/or lead teams or projects, preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
