We are seeking a detail-oriented Vegetable Trait Introgression Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support Trait Introgression (TI) operational activities across various sites, working closely with global TI managers on different crop pipelines. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to process improvements, enhancing the quality and efficiency of our TI operations. You'll be involved in crop planning, resource allocation, and data management using enterprise IT systems, while helping to monitor operational KPIs. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and an interest in agricultural biotechnology.

Duties:

  • Execute Trait Introgression (TI) processes and projects in continuous nursery, working closely with TI managers for assigned crops. This includes translating crop demand into operational work plans, managing seed-to-seed processes, and ensuring timely project advancements and seed delivery.
  • Manage resource planning and forecasting, including creating rolling forecasts for crop cycles, surface area requirements, and seed shipments. Submit annual resourcing plans for greenhouses and fields and contribute to marker planning forecasts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Pipeline Enablement, to develop applications supporting planning, activity execution, and project status communications. Ensure necessary planning adjustments are communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Capture and manage data in relevant Syngenta IT applications and tools. Report regularly on operational KPIs to monitor TI processes and secure pipeline delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of nursery processes, focusing on increasing delivery accuracy, reducing cycle time, expanding facility capacity, enhancing TI conversion quality, optimizing resource use, and streamlining overall operations.

Qualifications

  • MS degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Sciences or related field, or BS degree and 3 years of experience.
  • Experience and willingness to work in the field during summer months.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak season, as well as Saturdays year-round as needed.
  • Proven experience in crop/germplasm management or Trait Introgression (TI) in an R&D setting, preferably applied to commercial breeding programs.
  • Demonstrated people management skills and experience in managing operational processes, including infrastructure and resource management.
  • Excellent commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, with the ability to identify critical issues and engage cross-functional stakeholders to solve problems efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams and drive results in global settings.
  • Data and digital fluency, with strong organizational skills to manage complex processes and competing priorities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality trait conversions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
