Founded in 1993, Oscoda Plastics is a Michigan-based manufacturer that produces Protect-All flooring, ProFlex vinyl expansion joints and roofing accessories. It plays a unique role in the development of these products because it utilizes post-industrial vinyl. Oscoda Plastics is currently seeking an Assistant Plant Manager at their Oscoda, Michigan location to provide daily direction to his/her employees, assist in policy development and implementation on manufacturing issues, ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations, and ensure an open flow of communications between levels of the Corporation.

Essential Functions:

  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing small to medium sized operations, including significant experience as the senior manager on site.
  • Provide daily direction to the employees based on direction from the Plant Manager.
  • Assist in policy development and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations and maintain an open flow of communications between all levels of the Corporation.
  • Promotes and leads safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline or business
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience, including experience as a Production Supervisor
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing, metric management and continuous improvement
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment and application of continuous improvement tools (i.e. 5S, lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Effective management skills, including demonstrated employee development and retention experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity
  • Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite & knowledge of Google Docs & Drives
  • Positive attitude, good judgment and strong sense of responsibility, ownership, loyalty and strong work ethic
  • Proven track record of promoting safety training and safe operations under their supervision
