Position Purpose |
The Social Media Manager leads the development, execution, and evaluation of social media content and initiatives to enhance the stories and brand of the Geisel School of Medicine and foster meaningful engagement with diverse audiences. As part of integrated marketing teams, the Social Media Manager reports jointly to the Director of Digital Marketing and the Director for Enrollment Management. |

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience managing and evolving a brand's social media presence across a variety of platforms.
- Demonstrated experience with creating and posting social media content that drives engagement and action.
- Strong ability to analyze performance data and derive actionable recommendations and strategies for improvement.
- Familiarity with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite tools (e.g., Photoshop)
- Familiarity with social media management platforms and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with diverse teams and fostering an inclusive work environment.
- Creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Significant experience with Sprout Social, LinkTree, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager and other social media management tools and systems.
- Optimism, high energy, and a sense of humor are valuable assets.
- Evidence of a collaborative style in a project-based setting.

Key Accountabilities
Description |
Social Media Management & Execution
- Serve as the lead manager and primary content curator for Geisel's social channels, actively posting and developing content.
- Coordinate efforts with stakeholders and content creators at Geisel, Dartmouth, and Dartmouth Health to ensure cohesive efforts and brand consistency.
- Collaborate with the digital marketing director to set and manage a comprehensive social media strategy that is inclusive of all audiences.
- Execute and/or advise on the development of engaging social media content (i.e., static images, video reels, short-form video, stories, etc.) to support key priorities, addressing both organic and paid strategies.
- Create and/or partner with creative and video production teams to produce visually compelling assets.
- Lead the social media ambassador program for Geisel's MD and master's programs, providing guidelines, training, and content collaboration.
- Create and maintain social media initiatives and content calendars that align with institutional priorities and goals.
- Develop and execute internally-managed paid social media campaigns. Manage payment accounts associated with all paid social campaigns.
- Build and sustain robust communities across the social platforms, ensuring a strong, engaging, and consistent presence.
- Actively manage follower engagement, including responding to comments and messages.
- Explore new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities, advising on best practices and making recommendations for improvement.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on social media best practices and platform updates.

- Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reach, engagement, impressions, clicks, and conversions, as well as overall trends, to provide actionable insights and measure the success of campaigns and content.
- Utilize analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media platform insights, etc.) to track performance metrics and understand user behavior.
- Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Contribute to monthly performance summaries with social media-focused insights.
