Position: Behavioral Health Associate

Department: Behavioral Health- Mercy Joplin

Hours / Shift: Full-Time Days, 36hr/wk, 7am-7pm

Sign-On Bonus: May be eligible for up to $1,500

Overview:

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of physical and mental wellness.

Job Duties:

  • Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to nursing care
  • Assists in unit operational support tasks or duties.
  • Utilize medical equipment including but not limited to: electronic vital signs machines, EKG, blood glucose monitoring device.
  • Assists with crisis situations utilizing de-escalation techniques.
  • Observation of patients to ensure a safe environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Prefer successful completion of a High School Diploma and/or Nurse Assistant training course
  • Preferred Experience: Behavioral Health, Psych, or Direct Support Professional experience.
  • Minimum Physical Requirements:
    • The physical demands described here are the representative of the minimums that must be met by an employee to perform all essential functions of the job.
    • Minimal: lift floor to waist height of < 30 lbs (horizontally) and < 40 lbs force, balance
    • Frequent: hand coordination, data entry

Training:

  • Our training program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, providing a comprehensive, hands-on experience. Join Mercy to gain valuable skills and credentials through this program in a supportive healthcare environment!
  • If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the BHA position per state guidelines.
