Responsibilities

Director of Social Services - Current LMSW required, LCSW license and inpatient experience is highly preferred.

Rockford Center is Delaware's first private psychiatric facility and remains a leader in providing behavioral health care services and continues its commitment to providing quality health care. Rockford Center, a 138-bed acute psychiatric hospital continues to provide a full continuum of behavioral health services to geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and children. The Assessment & Referral Counselor will assess and evaluate the needs of individuals in crisis, and appropriately triage callers based on information gathered, to the most appropriate service to meet their needs.

The Director of Social Services at Rockford Center manages a team of full time, part time and PRN master's prepared case managers, as they work to provide compassionate care to our patients. This position is responsible for the overall leadership of the department and is a member of the Hospital Management Team. The Director ensures proper staff assignments are made and follows through with team members to ensure all responsibilities are completed on a timely basis. All of our Social Workers are responsible for delivering quality care to our patients and ensuring their safety and continued care and improvement both while inpatient and as they plan for discharge.

The Director of Social Services will be responsible for completing a variety of duties and tasks including:

  • Developing and implementing programs and clinical services necessary to meet key mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of our patients as well as monitoring and evaluating clinical programs, utilizing the input and skills of the hospital's clinical management team.
  • Leading the Social Services staff to ensure effective utilization of department resources including the hiring, training and managing department employees.
    Developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures pertaining to Social Services function which ensure program quality as well as high quality documentation of such work.
  • Encouraging and maintaining working relationship between Social Services and physicians, allied health professionals, patients' families and referral sources.

Qualifications

* Master's degree in psychiatric nursing or social work and/or equivalent combination education and experience.
* This position requires LCSW, and Inpatient experience.
* Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years in case management experience, and 3 years of a direct leadership role.
* Experience leading large teams of employees and planning for and implementing change will also help ensure your success in this highly visible role.

Emotional or Mental Stress:
Must be able to work with several distractions including light conversations. Must be able to deal with aggressive, hostile and irrational behaviors of patients. Must be able to respond immediately in crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members.

Physical and Mental requirements of Job:
Able to stop, crouch, reach, walk, and stand for sustained periods of time; use extremities to press against something with steady force, as well as pull objects, using extremities to draw, drag, haul, or tug in a sustained motion; able to feel, grasp, and finger objects and lift them from a lower to higher position or horizontally from one position to another; express and exchange ideas via spoken or written work to convey detailed information in an audible and quick manner, able to make fine discriminations in sound and to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than a 40lb loss @Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz, with or without correction; able to substantially move wrist, hands and/or fingers in a repetitive motion.

Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and occasionally exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Visual Acuity:
Visual acuity required adequate for preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, characters on computer terminals, reading, and visual inspections necessary.
