Wenger Corporation is seeking a Powder Paint Technician who will perform as the primary technical expert and resource to the powder paint processes.

This job might be for you if you have:



  • Minimum of two (2) years on-the-job or equivalent powder paint process. Project and process improvement experience in lieu of experience requirement
  • Knowledge of paint/coating processing, testing, and principles including pre-treatment, application, curing, waste treatment, water treatment, and tooling manufacturing.
  • Ability to train, lead, organize, and manage multiple projects
  • Intermediate understanding of math and chemistry
  • Experience with problem investigation and resolution abilities
  • Excellent verbal, training, and written communication skills
  • Must be able to distinguish between very subtle differences when performing testing and analysis of chemicals and color related to the process
  • Must stand a considerable amount of time
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 60-pound containers
  • Must be able to push 1000lbs. on a cart


As a Powder Paint Technician, a typical day might include:



  • Ensuring pre-treatment and paint application processes are operating within established parameters by conducting testing and equipment reviews. Record and retain results, initiate reaction plans for out of limits events, and communicate situations to leadership. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and suppliers to improve the processes through material and equipment enhancements.
  • Operating waste treatment system and monitor performance. Record and retain critical wastewater discharge information for national, state, and local regulations. Communicate issues promptly to leadership.
  • Operating Reverse Osmosis water system to ensure pre-treatment water quality exceeds expectations. This includes monitoring and assisting with preventative maintenance.
  • Designing part loading methods, part unloading methods, and paint tooling, in cooperation with Manufacturing Engineering. This includes documentation of design, process, and cleaning method.
  • Providing support to the powder paint application area by providing training, coaching, determining or refining application methods, designing business processes and recommending application equipment improvements.
  • Actively participating in maintaining open supplier relations with chemical, coating, application equipment, tooling cleaning service, tooling manufacture and other suppliers.
  • Leading preventative maintenance activities through out the powder paint area. Responsible for training others the correct methods and frequencies of maintenance.
  • Responsibility for maintaining quality assurance systems and attribute test equipment in the powder paint area. A deep understanding of paint testing equipment is required. This includes but not limited to washer titration, total dissolved solids testing, color measurement (colorimeter), gloss measurement, impact testing, adhesion testing, and film thickness measurement. Records of tests must be recorded and retained per work instructions.
  • Evaluating productivity of the powder paint area including downtime, scrap, material usage efficiency and paint line part density. Recommend and implement actions to improve performance of the area.
  • Maintaining chemical, coating, and supply inventories
  • Ensuring materials are disposed of according to national, state, and local regulations.
