Job Summary
As a Senior Air Permit Engineer with Fishbeck's Environmental Health and Safety Department, you will be working on a variety of industrial and governmental client projects providing regulatory assistance, preparing permit applications, conducting site evaluations, and writing detailed reports. You will work alongside industry leaders and government agencies to assess environmental impacts, help clients to maintain compliance, fulfill regulatory oversight of projects and propose creative solutions for sustainable operations.
Additionally, we are looking for someone to expand our presence and help grow our business through leveraging existing relationships and cultivating new connections. This position will also assist in the development and implementation of specific strategies to increase our client base.
Primary Functions


  • Work with Sales and Marketing Department to develop corporate BD strategy and identify potential service lines for future growth.
  • Work with other departments to provide client development and cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with area Counties, Cities, and other local agencies to obtain intelligence on upcoming opportunities and position Fishbeck to be in the driver's seat.
  • Lead the pursuits, prepare proposals, and develop fees for potential projects.
  • Attend and represent Fishbeck in professional organizations' meetings and industry events to develop and maintain Fishbeck client relationships.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Generate and/or follow-up on new leads.
  • Air permit applications, air emission inventories, air emission records review and development, regulatory and compliance reviews.
  • Prepare and review emission calculations.
  • Review of processes and regulatory analyses.
  • Familiarity with routine record keeping and reporting required by EHS Managers to comply with environmental permits.
  • Develop Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, including GHG emissions calculations and reports.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory permit applications and reports.
  • Interpret collected data and environmental records to aide in reporting.
  • Provide on-site regulatory assistance at industrial facilities.


Desired Education/Licensure
Bachelor's in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. PE license a plus.
Desired Skills/Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance (such as in consulting, environmental health and safety (EHS) management, or with an environmental regulatory agency.)
  • Experience preparing and submitting air permit applications.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations.
  • Experience preparing various environmental reports and other regulatory agency documents.
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and regulations.
  • Insight into developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, especially with generating proposals and reports.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, generating formulas and calculations.
  • Time management, ability to handle multiple tasks, with attention to detail, accuracy and completeness for completion of tasks and review of reports and calculations.
  • Technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with air dispersion modeling a plus.
  • Train and mentor staff.
  • Understanding of the consulting industry.
  • Development of proposals clearly outlining the scope of work.
  • Impactful presentation skills.

Minimum Physical Requirements
Common office tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, using a personal computer, and communicating verbally. Most work is conducted indoors with occasional project site visits. Lifting up to 50 pounds, maneuvering outdoors, using technical data collection equipment is necessary at times. Must be able to drive vehicle to project sites and meetings with clients. Travel for field work or work at client sites depending on client needs or requirements. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.
